The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Thursday afternoon:
On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at approximately 11:15 p.m. officers were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of Ave, A regarding a report of an assault.
When officers arrived, they made contact with an adult male on the back porch. They also met and identified an adult female. The female explained that 31-year-old Guadalupe Montelongo-Herrera was upset with her because he believed she was cheating on him. They argued inside the home for some time. While in the kitchen, Montelongo, grabbed the victim’s cell phone and threw it against the wall to prevent her from completing a phone call to 911.
As the two continued arguing on the back porch, the female confronted Montelongo about his drinking and drunkenness. Montelongo was more upset with this and grabbed her and held a knife to her throat. Other adults inside the home came outside to separate the two and when separated, Montelongo slapped the female and further threatened her if she were to phone the police.
Montelongo was ultimately arrested for Interference with an Emergency Call, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault Against a Family Member.
