Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday morning:
This month’s spotlight teacher is Stephanie Miller. Ms. Miller is a Teen Leadership / Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher at Brownwood Middle School (BMS). She is a Brownwood High School graduate and holds a Master of Science degree in Social Work from Abilene Christian University. Ms. Miller served as a Case Manager for the Center for Life Resources and a substitute teacher before joining Brownwood ISD in her current position in 2021.
Ms. Miller is a natural teacher who has a great rapport with her students. In her classroom, students learn confidence, leadership, and how to become a positive force for change through various community outreach projects. Her classroom is all about skills for success in life—how to interact with peers and treat each other with respect and kindness. Not only does she teach these important skills, she also demonstrates them every day. She serves as head of the BMS Electives department, mentors first-year electives teachers, and assists fellow staff members with their needs and concerns throughout the year.
Brownwood ISD is thankful for teachers like Ms. Miller, who go above and beyond providing help and guidance to teachers along with a safe space for students to feel heard and supported as they navigate the uncertain world of middle school and beyond.
Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Sandra Skrhak. Ms. Skrhak is a school nurse at Woodland Heights Elementary. She is a Brownwood High School graduate, a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), and holds an Associates degree in Health Information Technology from Texas State Technical College.
This is Ms. Skrhak’s first year at Woodland Heights, but she has quickly become a part of the family. She is great with students and parents, and is an asset to the Woodland Heights staff. Ms. Skrhak is knowledgeable, organized, calm, and confident in handling any health or nursing-related situations that may arise. She is respected by all who work with her and is a valued member of the Woodland Heights team.
Brownwood ISD is grateful to have staff like Ms. Skrhak, who exhibit excellence in their field while also providing genuine care and support to our students and staff.
