LAMPASAS – The Brownwood Lions recorded a 316 composite score, good for a share of the top spot with Marble Falls, but dropped a one-hole team playoff to finish second overall at the Lampasas Invitational at Hancock Park Tuesday.
Sir Bubba Jones led the charge for the Lions by shooting a second-place individual score of 77 followed by Cobe Walker and Caleb Modawell, who both fired 79s to tie for fourth place, while Hudson Reagan and Slayde Espinoza each carded an 81.
Marble Falls’ Coby Holley finished with the low round of 76.
The third-place squad at the event, Gatesville, finished 37 shots back after posting a 353 team score, followed by Copperas Cove (354), Salado (361), Lampasas (369), Belton (371) and the Lions’ B team (376).
Comprising the Brownwood ‘B’ team were Peyton Sharp, who led the way with an 87, trailed by Grant Gray with a 93, Will Stewardson with a 96 and Andrew Boren with a round of 100.
The next event for the Lions is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Llano.
