HOOPS ROUNDUP: Longhorns, May squads pick up wins in make-up action

EARLY – The Early Longhorns halted a three-game District 8-3A skid and got back to their winning ways with a 50-43 home victory over Millsap Saturday afternoon.

In a game originally scheduled for this past Tuesday prior to the winter weather outbreak, Early (6-5 in district) led 12-8 after one quarter and 18-16 at halftime, but trailed 34-30 heading into the fourth period where the Longhorns outscored Millsap 20-9.

Jeremy Brown paced the Longhorns with 12 points followed by Kaleb Huffman with 10, Colton Allen with nine, Kamden Gamblin with six, Jaxyn Price with four, John Hill with three, and John-Stewart Gordon, Andrew Caten and Rohyn Price with two points apiece.

Early, which entered the day in fourth place in the 8-3A standings, hosts third-place Comanche Tuesday night.

May Tigers 59, Moran 11

MORAN – The May Tigers kept their unblemished District 13-A record intact with a 59-11 road victory over Moran in a make-up game Saturday.

May (22-4, 7-0) led 8-4 after one quarter, 24-7 at halftime, and 44-7 through three periods.

Ben Harrell and Zach Martin each poured in 16 points for the Tigers followed by Luke McKenzie with 12.

May will venture to Eula Tuesday night.

May Lady Tigers 57, Moran 24

MORAN – The May Lady Tigers returned to the win column Saturday, earning a 57-24 victory over District 13-A rival Moran in a league make-up game.

May (19-12, 6-3) opened a 15-2 lead after one quarter that grew to 27-8 at halftime and 43-16 through three periods.

Jordyn Gerhardt led the Lady Tigers with 15 points followed by 11 from McKenna Landes and eight points from Mia Musick.

May will visit Eula Tuesday.

Millsap 65, Early Lady Horns 23

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns slipped to 0-13 in District 8-3A action with a 65-23 home loss to Millsap in make-up action Saturday afternoon.

Jodi Lykes led the Lady Horns with eight points trailed by Jenna Hataway with five and Caroline Welker, Memorie Castro, Katie Whitehead, Madison Torrez and Averey Horton with two points apiece.

The Lady Horns will wrap up their season at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they host Comanche.
