North Lake VFD posted the following on its Facebook page:
North Lake VFD is setting up a scholarship fund to send a May High School student to fire fighter and EMT school. We have worked out a plan where we can send a student to these schools where they will receive both firefighter and EMT basic certifications along with a job offer from one of three paid agencies if a position is available. We will be working with the May VFD to ensure this is achievable. We are hoping to make this a yearly scholarship and a way to keep this profession alive. The scholarship will have provisions regarding ability and interest as well as a commitment of at least two years of volunteering on either May or North Lake VFD’S or a VFD in the county they had to go to if a local job was not available for them.
The current cost of this schooling has been negotiated to $3,200. so its also a great value for a lifetime career. If you would like send a donation marked MAY FIRST RESPONDER SCHOLARSHIP to 3340 Windjammer May Texas 76801. Please notate anonymous if you do not wish to be recognized otherwise your contribution WILL be read during the scholarship presentation at the May High School graduation ceremony. Businesses are welcome and this is TAX DEDUCTIBLE through 501 c3.
