Walter D. “Dub” Fields, age 88, of Bangs, Texas passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at his home.
Dub was born June 25, 1934 in Young County, Texas to Lester Burton “L.B.” Fields and Lorena Ophelia Canada Fields.
He was raised and educated in Olney, Texas. He attended Olney High School where he played football and graduated in 1952. After graduating high school, Dub entered the United States Army in February 1956. While serving in the army, his father received a letter from Colonel Richard D. Smith stating that Dub was selected as one of the top ten trainees in his organization. His award was an honor for out-standing ability in every phase of his training while at Fort Chaffee in Arkansas. He was honorably discharged in November 1957 and returned to Olney, Texas.
He married Evelyn Annie Fletcher of Archer City, Texas on November 6, 1959. Dub and Annie moved their family to Odessa, Texas in 1966. He opened Nipco, Inc. with his twin brother Pete Fields in February 1972.
He married Jane Ives on May 1, 1993, and continued working at Nipco until his retirement in 2000. Dub and Jane moved to Bangs, Texas in 2004 to help his brother, Pete, with the farm. Dub and Pete enjoyed working on their farm and raising cattle.
He is survived by his son, Rex Fields (Sarah), his daughter, Kathy Fields Crumley (Craig), his former wife, Evelyn Annie Fletcher Fields, grandchildren; Carol Ann Crumley Lucky (Cameron), Kyle Crumley, Fletcher Fields (Grace), great grandchildren; Hayes, Brandt & Hollis Lucky and Presley Fields; his twin brother, Wilson A. “Pete” Fields, numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ophelia Fields; wife, Jane Fields; sister, Lorena “Rene” Crosthwait; brother in law, Paul Crosthwait, sister in law, Darlene Fields, nephew, Weldon Fields; great nephew, Clint Newman.

Services are under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood, Texas. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on January 28, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
