The Early Police Department issued the following information Monday afternoon:
On 01/21/2022 at approximately 7 p.m. Early Police officers attempted to stop a black 4 door on CC Woodson due to a traffic violation. The vehicle sped up and fled from officers as it went onto Commerce from Tractor Supply area. Officers were unable to pursue the vehicle due to the heavy traffic at the time.
Approximately 20 minutes later officers spotted the vehicle again and attempted to stop the vehicle. The black 4 door car attempted to flee from officers traveling north on CR 381 (Old May Road) at a high rate of speed. As the pursuit approached the dead end of CR 381 the dust from the dirt road dramatically reduced visibility and the Officer was able to stop at the end of the roadway and crashed through the pipe barrier.
The suspect driver then ran on foot from the vehicle leaving the female passenger behind. A short time later the male suspect walked out onto CR 382 in front of Sheriff’s Deputies and he was taken into custody at that time.
The driver Seth Sheffler was arrested and charged with 4 warrants for burglary of vehicle and 1 charge of theft all from Hays County, 2 charges of Evading arrest, defective equipment and no driver’s license. Sheffler was booked into the Brown County Jail.
The female was released.
There were no injuries reported during the crash.
