It is a great honor to announce that in addition to my appointment to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I have also been selected to continue to serve on the House Committee on Homeland Security.
Last Congress, Republicans on the Homeland Security Committee did a lot of good work exposing President Biden’s border crisis. I am proud to have served as the Ranking Member on the Intelligence and Counterterrorism Subcommittee and to have led the fight in exposing the number of known and suspected terrorists entering our country and shutting down the DHS “Disinformation Governance Board”.
With our new Republican majority, I look forward to promoting policies to keep our homeland safe and hold this administration accountable for the crisis they have unleashed on Texans.
Announcing the First Congressional Office in Killeen
Yesterday, I officially announced our new office in Killeen, which will be the first Congressional office in Killeen ever and located in the Pratt Learning and Leadership Center at 505 E. Jasper Drive, Killeen, Texas, 76541.
This office will soon be open full-time to provide assistance to anyone experiencing issues with a federal agency, including the IRS, VA, and more. Our Gold Star Fellow, and wonderful team member, Cayssia David is ready to help. Should you need any assistance within the Killeen region, please reach out here.
I am touched by the warm reception from so many, especially students from Killeen ISD, and want to extend a big thank you to Killeen Independent School District for generously opening their space, and to Superintendent Dr. John Craft and the Killeen ISD Board of Trustees for making this possible.
I am proud to welcome the western portion of Bell County to the 11th District of Texas and look forward to representing the needs of the community. I will continue to champion legislation and ensure that the soldiers who are stationed at Fort Hood have the training, resources, and equipment they need to keep our country safe, and that their children and spouses in the Killeen community are supported.
Lampasas Town Hall
Yesterday, I hosted my first town hall of the new Congress in Lampasas.
I depend on town hall meetings to communicate what’s going on in Washington and what I’m working on, but more importantly to hear from you.
Thank you again to everyone who took the time to engage in our great discussion, and for the wonderful reception! I am so excited to welcome Lampasas County to the 11th District of Texas and have the opportunity to represent you in Congress.
Upcoming Swearing-In Ceremony
This Monday, January 23rd, I invite you to join me at my local Swearing-In Ceremony in the 3rd Floor District Courtroom at the George H. W. Bush & George W. Bush Courthouse at 200 East Wall Street in Midland.
U.S. District Judge David Counts will administer the Oath of Office and we will have a reception following the official ceremony.
I hope to see you there!
2023 State of Oil and Gas
Representing the hardworking men and women in the Permian Basin is an incredible honor. Earlier this week, I was proud to introduce Pioneer’s President and COO Richard Dealy, the keynote speaker for the 2023 State of Oil & Gas in Midland, a wonderful event put on by the Midland Chamber of Commerce and led by Chamber CEO Bobby Burns.
Richard talked about growth in our industry, and the importance of the Permian in the global energy supply. He emphasized how our region is leading in supplying clean, reliable, and affordable energy — projecting a bright future for our area.
We need to make the United States more like Texas when it comes to pipelines and processing, and the Permian is a major part of the solution.
During the new 118th congress, I am focused on permitting reforms to address issues with categorical exclusions and federal lease sales, expediting LNG exports, ending the regulatory uncertainty projects face with changing Administrations, and doing everything we can to block endangered species listings that have been weaponized in the last few years.
Today, thousands are gathering in our Nation’s capital to celebrate the overturning of Roe. v. Wade and lend their voices to the voiceless in continuing to protect the most vulnerable among us. As our country progresses into a post-Roe era, I applaud those continuing to raise awareness through prayer, compassion, and goodwill. I am honored to affirm my commitment to working tirelessly alongside this movement in defense of life.
In the first week of the new Republican majority in Congress, we have made it clear our priorities are protecting the sanctity of life. I helped pass legislation providing medical care for babies who are born alive following an abortion and championed a resolution condemning violence against pro-life pregnancy centers, churches, and organizations.
As a father of three, I am proud to receive Susan B Anthony Pro-Life America’s A+ rating for my continuous work to defend the lives of the unborn and protect the safety and well-being of mothers and babies. I will continue to do everything in my power to protect the vulnerable and safeguard our God-given right to life.
San Saba Judge Byron Theodosis recently retired after 20 years of incredible service as the County Judge. Carol Cunningham from our Llano office today honored him with a flag and certificate for his service.
Congratulations to the Judge on his well-earned retirement. We are so thankful for his many years of dedication and service.
