Odell Northcutt, 88, of Bangs, Texas passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Greenleaf Cemetery, Monday, January 23, 2023 under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.

Odell was born February 27, 1934 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Emery and Cooila Northcutt. Odell and Lois were married in Odessa, Texas. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company before embarking on several business ventures. Seeking a quieter life, they purchased a ranch outside of Bangs, Texas where Odell ran about 100 head of cattle. Odell loved all things rodeo, so he and his wife re-established Bangs Rodeo and Riding Club. They organized many community events including parades and downtown street dances. He owned and operated Odell’s Skelly Service Station for several years. In the early 70’s, Odell and Lois built Bangs Truck Terminal & Restaurant. It was a family owned and operated business and became a hub for the community and family. Odell was instrumental in working with the Texas Highway Department in preventing Highway 84 from being re-routed around Bangs. In retirement, he loved fishing, hunting and spending time with family.

Odell is survived by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Lois Northcutt; daughter, Teresa Northcutt; Sons, Dwight Northcutt and Leslie Northcutt; brother-in-law, David Melot; grandchildren, Jeremy Northcutt, Daylon Northcutt and Amber Hunter, Kendra Northcutt and Zach Haynes, Garrison and Dakota Northcutt; great grandchildren, Haley Northcutt, Tempress, Ace, Braylon, Fallon, Kiera, Charli & Peyton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Odell was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.

Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
