The Howard Payne University men’s basketball fell 99-90 in overtime to LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne erased a 10-point deficit (80-70) in the final 1:40 of the game tying LeTourneau at 81-81 with 12 seconds remaining. After a great defensive stop, the Jackets forced overtime.
HPU would hit 2 of 8 shots in the overtime period to have LETU secure the 99-90 overtime final.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Jarod Johnson with 20 points and four assists. Armonie Ramey and Harold Myart each added 17 points, Ramey grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and Myart pulled down eight rebounds. Miles Koehler had 14 points along with five assists.
Howard Payne did force 23 LETU turnovers while committing 15 themselves.
LeTourneau was led by Jackson Mayes with 31 points and seven rebounds. Deonte Jackson had 24 point and Warren Richardson added 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Howard Payne is now 2-14 overall and 0-8 in American Southwest Conference action. LeTourneau stands at 6-8 on the year and 3-4 in league play. The Jackets will play next on Saturday, Jan. 14th at home versus Sul Ross State University. It will be a 3:00 pm start time.
