Ms. Roxie Walton Brown, 70 years old, passed away December 28, 2022 at her home in Brownwood, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Faith Community Church. Visitation will be held Friday January 6, 2023 at Brownwood Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m.
She was born December 10, 1952 in Tunica, Mississippi as the 7th child of 12 to the late, Willie Mae and Johnny Walton.
Roxie, affectionately known as Bannie, moved from Tunica, MS to Chicago, IL in 1967 where she worked at Wilson, Jones and Co., manufacturing office equipment and supplies for more than 20 years. She was joined in holy matrimony to Troy Lee Brown of Chicago, IL. in 1989. She later moved from Chicago, IL to Coleman, Texas in 1983 where she pursued a career as a tax preparer for more than 15 years and became a member of New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs, Texas. Roxie enjoyed sewing, shopping, cooking, caring for her children and helping others as a caregiver. Finally, she moved to Brownwood, Texas to be closer to her sister, Glenda Henderson who, along with her daughter, Shardae Brisby were her final caregivers for many years.
Roxie was proceeded in death by both parents: her son Darron Walton in 2017; 1 sister Virginia Walton; 5 brothers: Ernest Walton, Johnny Walton, Herbert Walton, Willie Doug Walton and Wilbert Walton.
To cherish her memory she leaves 2 children, Gary Walton (of Abilene, Texas) and April Brown (who was a resident of Coleman, Texas for many years), 1 grandson; Blessed Darron Brown. Her siblings include, Gladys Thomas (of Chicago, IL), Mary Walton (of Chicago, IL), Evon Walton (of Chicago, IL), John and Charlene Walton (of Chicago, IL), Glenda and Bobby Henderson (of Brownwood, Texas). She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior and strived to walk as a devoted Christian for the remainder of her life. Roxie is loved by so many that came across her path and will also be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
