Catalina Cervantes Caro, age 98, of Brownwood went to Heaven on Friday, December 30, 2022.

Celebration of Life for Catalina will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood (1914 Indian Creek Rd. Brownwood, Texas 76801).

Catalina was born on February 13, 1924, to Jose Cervantes and Marciana Caro in San Jose de Reyes, Durango, Mexico. She was a hard worker and strong, both physically and mentally. She picked cotton, cleaned houses, and babysat children in her home along with helping raise her three grandsons. She moved to Brownwood in 1998. Catalina was baptized at the First Mexican Baptist Church of Coleman; when she came out of the water, she raised her arms in the air to which her family said she looked like a dove. She was generous to a fault.

Those left to cherish Catalina’s memory include her daughter, Elva Cardenas of Brownwood; three grandsons, A.R. Cardenas and wife Celeste of Brownwood, Ricardo Cardenas and wife Tamra of Krum, and Rafe Cardenas and Marie M. Gray of Fort Worth; eight great-grandchildren, Chris, Devin, Tristan, Nicholas, Camden, Logan, Nina, and Olivia; two sisters, Elpidia Cervantes Castaneda of Anthony, New Mexico, and Delia Cervantes Martinez of Brenham; and a brother, Amador Cervantes-Caro of San Jose de Reyes, Durango, Mexico.

Catalina was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Socorro Mena; son-in-law, Ramon Cardenas; three sisters, Raquel Cervantes Castorena, Luisa Cervantes Salaices, and Engracia Cervantes Vasquez.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Catalina’s name be made to a charity of choice.

Online condolences for the family may be made at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
