On Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, Robert “Mark” Bretzke passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71.
Mark was born in Uvalde, TX to Clinton and June Bretzke. He was raised in LaPryor, TX, and attended LaPryor schools and Southwest Texas Jr. College in Uvalde for their 2 year mechanic program.
He married Bonnie Haynes in Uvalde and they moved to Brownwood, TX and raised 3 children, Charla, Michael, and Amy.
Mark had a passion for cars and football. He would gladly offer his advice and expertise on either subject. There was always a football game playing on his TV, and he never wavered in his love of the Dallas Cowboys and high school football.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie. He is also survived by his daughter, Charla Garcia, and her husband David; son, Michael Bretzke, and his wife, Erin; and daughter, Amy Clubb, and her husband, Zachery. He is survived by 2 granddaughters, Kayleigh Bretzke and Reagan Clubb, and 2 grandsons, Colton Clubb and Logan Bretzke. He is survived by 1 brother, Bill Bretzke, and 4 sisters, Kathy (Dale) Walker, Susie (Ken) Dittlinger, Jan (Bill) Wiedenfeld, and Laura (Lloyd) Kulak. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ellen Armstrong, brothers-in-law, James (Amanda) Haynes and Aubrey (Xaviera) Haynes, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 2 aunts, Mildred Stearns, and Mary Bretzke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and June Bretzke, and brother, Joseph Bretzke. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gilbert Haynes and step father-in-law Garland Armstrong.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 30. 2022 at Grace Baptist Church in Early, TX. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at the church, followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Graveside will be immediately following the service at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, TX. Services under the direction of Girdner Funeral Home, Abilene, Texas.
