Larry Noble Doggett of Belton passed away peacefully at 12:35 pm Friday, December 23, 2022 due to complications from a stroke.
Larry was born in Lampasas, TX on August 5, 1945. Larry was the middle child of 7 born to Noble Elroy and Jimmie Lee Doggett.
Larry is preceded in death by his father Noble Doggett, mother Jimmie Doggett, youngest brother Robert Doggett and oldest sister Joyce Doggett. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Diana Doggett of Belton, son Bryce Doggett (Terrie, Hayden, Jake and Grayson) of Hutto, daughter Deanna Cagle (Chris, Jordan and Taytum, Brylie) of Liberty Hill and daughter Kim Hodge (Tim, Lilly and Sadie) of Belton. He is also survived by 4 siblings and their families, brothers Elroy Doggett of Mineola, Edwin Doggett of Decatur, and sisters Sue Gouge of Weatherford and Bonnie Bailey of Weatherford.
Larry grew up in his younger years on a farm in Lometa, TX and then the family traveled following work to Mason, TX, Kentucky, Louisiana, San Antonio, TX, Benbrook, TX, Cool, TX, Greenwood, TX, Borger, TX, Colorado and Iowa. The family moved to Weatherford, TX in the mid 1950’s and finally settled on North Main Street in 1956.
Larry attended Weatherford schools from that time forward and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1963. Larry then took classes at Weatherford College and the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied accounting.
Larry worked at General Dynamics, HB Zachry, Austin Industries and in the early 80’s began working for his brother, Edwin, in the waterproofing business. This eventually led him to Austin, TX in 1985 when he founded WeatherTex Waterproofing. The business continued under Larry’s leadership until he sold it in September of 2021.
Larry loved the great outdoors, golf, watching anything that his grandchildren were involved in, and just hanging out with family and grilling hamburgers. He was instrumental in holding together a family dove hunt that has continued for 46 years. He also loved the trips and time he had with his second family, the Bung Ho group. This is a group of friends that many of them go back to grade school that strives to get together at least once a year.
Larry and Diana had lived in south Austin and Georgetown and upon retirement settled in a new home in the summer of 2022 in Belton, TX.
Funeral services will be held at Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home in Goldthwaite, TX on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Visitation from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, chapel service at 1:00 pm followed by burial service at Center City Cemetery in Center City, TX.
The family would like to thank the staff in ICU and Hospice at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX. They would also like to express their gratitude for all of the kind words, prayers and visits during this trying time.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Larry’s name to The American Heart Association or Cattlemen for Cancer Research (Cattlemen for Cancer Research, P.O. Box 672, Elgin, TX 78621).
