John P. Guest, Chief Executive Officer for Citizens National Bank at Brownwood, announced his retirement after 40 years of service, effective December 31, 2022.
He graduated from Abilene High School before attending Cisco Junior College on a Rodeo Scholarship. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Ag. Business from Tarleton State University, and he earned a postgraduate degree from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
John moved to Brownwood in 1979 and worked as an Emergency Loan Supervisor for the Farmers’ Home Administration. He started his career with Citizens National Bank in 1982. In 2010, John was promoted to Bank President; in 2014, he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer.
He has served the Brown County Community in many ways throughout the years. Currently, he is a member of the Pecan Valley Kiwanis Club, Brownwood Industrial Foundation, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, and the Zephyr Water Board. He formerly served on the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Brown County Fair Association, and Rodeo Committee.
John has raised cattle, roped calves, and recently became a golf enthusiast. He is married to Jan Guest, and they have one daughter, Jacey.
John will continue to serve on the bank’s board of directors.
