The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday regarding a pair of weekend incidents:
On Sunday, December 18 at approximately 1 a.m., Officer Grady Vazquez was dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Beaver Street regarding a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, Officer Vazquez met with the victim, 33-year-old Jennifer Huff of Brownwood. Huff explained that her and 4 other females drove to the Brown County Fair Grounds in 2 separate vehicles to see a friend’s animal. Afterwards, the 2 vehicles were driven to the Stripes Convenience Store on south US377. While stopped at the store, Huff claimed she was standing beside the second vehicle; driven by 28-year-old Cheyenne Tyler Dorsey-Stanton. Huff claimed she dropped her cellphone while standing by the vehicle and as she bent to retrieve it, Dorsey-Stanton put the vehicle in reverse suddenly, and struck her right arm and leg intentionally. Huff claimed to be in great pain and further feared that 2 passengers inside the vehicle were now being held against their will.
The Early Police Department located the vehicle traveling on Early Blvd and initiated a traffic stop. Officer Vazquez drove to that location and identified Dorsey-Stanton and the 2 passengers. Both passengers claimed that they insisted Dorsey-Stanton stop the vehicle, but she refused.
Dorsey-Stanton was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault w/a Deadly Weapon (vehicle) and Unlawful Restraint.
