COLEMAN – Trailing by two points in the waning moments, senior Mady Pyle knocked down a go-ahead three-pointer that lifted the Brownwood Lady Lions to a 31-29 road victory over Coleman Tuesday night.
Brownwood (7-9) trailed 7-2 after one quarter, took an 11-8 halftime lead and carried a 22-16 advantage into the fourth period, where Coleman made a spirited comeback.
The Lady Lions shot just 22 percent (10 of 45) from the floor and made only 3 of 20 two-point attempts, but drained 7 of 25 three-pointers. Brownwood was also 4 of 9 from the free throw line. The Lady Lions committed 22 turnovers as well, but recorded 27 rebounds and 10 steals and dished out seven assists.
Pyle’s 13 points were a team-best for Brownwood trailed by Kassidy Wooten with six, Kimber Green with five, Hannah Deen with four, Miranda Northcutt with two, and Icess Hall with one point.
Katy Elder led Coleman with seven points followed by Brylei Gilbreath and Addi Cox with six apiece.
The Lady Lions will be back in action at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Class 2A No. 14 Goldthwaite.
