The Hamilton Police Department posted the following Facebook Monday:
On Monday, December 5, 2022, just before 1:00 PM, Officers from the Hamilton Police Department, Hamilton Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Public Safety responded to a bomb threat at the Hamilton Junior High School located in the 400 block of S. College Street.
All students and staff were evacuated from the school to a safe location without incident. A complete campus sweep of the campus was conducted by the McClennan County Bomb Squad and no suspicious items nor explosive devices were located and the area was deemed safe.
There is no threat to the school or community.
A juvenile student has been identified in connection with the threat and has been taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
The Hamilton ISD also posted the following on Facebook:
Late this morning, a note was found by a student and turned it into the JH office. The note was a bomb threat for the JH.
The decision was made to lockdown the HS, evacuate the JH/ Elem.
Once the students were secured, we then got everyone off the hill for reunification at the FBC and Kooken Field.
Law enforcement has swept the building with K-9. Nothing was found and the building has been cleared.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and trust during this incident.
School will resume tomorrow at 8am.
