LORENA – The Brownwood Lady Lions came up short in their Lorena basketball tournament finale Saturday, falling to Robinson by a 48-39 count.
The Lady Lions, who finished the tournament with a 2-3 record, led 16-14 after one quarter and 28-24 at halftime, and was tied at 33 through three periods before being outscored 15-6 over the final eight minutes.
Brownwood shot 25 percent (13 of 51) from the field, 25 percent (5 of 20) from three-point land, and 50 percent (8 of 16) from the free throw line. The Lions turned the ball over 17 times but tallied 35 rebounds, six assists and five steals.
Mady Pyle scored 11 points for Brownwood trailed by 10 from Hannah Deen, eight from Kimber Green, three each from Sidney Windham and Miranda Northcutt, and two apiece from Icess Hall and Kassidy Wooten.
The Lady Lions (6-9) return to action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Coleman.
