She was born Donna Sue Scott on April 21, 1941, in Merkel to Morris Leon Scott and Alva Marie Frazier Scott. Donna grew up in Merkel and graduated from Merkel High School in 1959, where she was F.H.A. Sweetheart and her friends affectionately called her “Scotty.” Donna married her high school sweetheart, Larry Wendell Seymore on February 23, 1962.
Throughout the years, Donna worked as a legal secretary and a school secretary. When Donna and Larry moved to Coleman, she worked at Earle Smith Jewelry, First National Bank and the Coleman County Tax Assessors Office. Donna later was elected to the position of Tax Assessor Collector and served in that capacity until her retirement.
Donna was very much the picture of Proverbs 31. She loved being in the kitchen, sewing, taking care of nieces and nephews as well as her daughter. Donna was Larry’s right hand when it came to working cows and planting crops. That right hand position stretched her Proverbs 31 demeanor! Donna did not show emotions easily. She was a solid, organized rock for family and friends. She was always ready with a calming word or something sly to make you laugh. Donna was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she served on various committees. She was a faithful member of the Unity Sunday School Class.
Donna was preceded in death by two sons, Wendell Scott Seymore and Chad Kendell Seymore; her parents, Leon and Alva Scott, a sister, Peggy Marie Scott and grandson, Wendell Quinton Farkas.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Wendell Seymore; her daughter, Gina Renee Farkas; her favorite son-in-law, David Farkas; sister and brother-in-law, Debi and Robert Smith; eight nieces, five nephews and a multitude of great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Serving as Pallbearers are Cliff Smith, Randy Smith, Matt Smith, David Farkas, Bo Dunagin and Jim Hudson. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Unity Sunday School Class.
