A cold front arrives this Thanksgiving afternoon in Brown County. On Friday, an upper level low will begin to spread rain over a wide area of Texas, including our region. According to KOXE Meteorologist Randy Turner, the Weather Prediction Center has placed West Central Texas in a Marginal Risk for Excessive Rainfall on Friday.
“This means there is a chance for Flash Flooding in our area. The chance for rain and thunderstorms is now 80% Thanksgiving Day, 80% Thursday night, 90% Friday and 90% Friday night. Rain amounts could exceed 1 to 2 inches in some area counties Friday and Friday night. A cold front will arrive Thursday afternoon dropping temperatures into low 40’s by Friday morning. Highs Friday will likely remain in the 40’s with gusty north wind 15 to 20 mph keeping wind chills in the 30’s, windy and rainy.”
As of 6:30 am Thursday, a line of strong storms was located from south of Brady to San Saba to Evant, moving toward the northeast.
