HAMILTON – The Brownwood Lady Lions placed fourth at the Hamilton basketball tournament, dropping the third-place game to Lorena, 61-39, Saturday afternoon.
Brownwood couldn’t overcome a slow start, trailing 19-4 after one quarter, 36-14 at halftime, and 52-26 through three quarters.
The Lady Lions shot just 23 percent (11 of 47) from the floor, including 22 percent (5 of 22) from the three-point arc, and 70 percent (12 of 17) at the free throw line. Brownwood also turned over the ball 17 times, logged 21 rebounds, nabbed 10 steals and dished out four assists.
Kimber Green paced Brownwood with 15 points followed by Hannah Dean with 10, all-tournament team member Mady Pyle with eight, Sidney Windham with three, Icess Hall with two and Kassidy Wooten with one point.
The Lady Lions (3-4) will be back in action at 2:15 p.m. Monday as they host Early in their home opener.
