Bombers 12u Sheffield Gold team won 1st place this weekend at the Turkey Fest tourney. Bombers went 1-2 on Saturday and lost their first bracket game to a really good 2010 Futures team 2-0. On Sunday the girls played 5 games back to back, one right after another and went and won the whole thing 5-3 in the championship.
Congrats to Andie Simpson for being selected as MVP in the championship game! Her bat did some damage and she was stellar behind the plate, catching 5 games straight on Sunday. Her passion makes us a better team. Congrats to Brenda Allen on reaching her 500th career strikeout this weekend and for also getting a defensive mvp ball. This girl made some scoops and digs at 1st that were really unreal! She also hit some flat out bombs. Maty Quick led the way in batting with a little over .500 batting average. Corinne Sheffield pitched 5 straight games Sunday and tallied 22 strikeouts.
This group hasn’t come in lower than 1st since Nationals in mid June, where they placed 4th. They have played all over the state and out of state and taken home 1st 8 straight times. They have spent their spring, summer, and fall chasing greatness and in doing that have learned so much. They’ve learned how to fail and battle back, they’ve learned what dedication to a task looks like, they’ve learned how to have awful days but still have to find a way to get their job done, they have learned discipline and accepting someone having expectations for them, they have been taught about Jesus, they have learned what it’s like to have a target on your back and ignoring the noise and still giving it their all. This group has captivated the culture of Bombers softball. They have set the standard.
Thank you to Nathan Gallant and David Sheffield for being such a big part of the Bombers and coaching our kids hard.
Bombers 12u and 14u will have tryout’s December 13th and 15th at 6:30pm at Bert Massey Sports Complex.
