During Tuesday’s meeting of the Brownwood Municipal District Board of Directors, a Building Incentive Program Grant in the amount of $25,000 was approved to Texas Fun Co. LLC for the building located at 101 Fisk Street.
BMDD Executive Director Ray Tipton stated the owners of the building were renovating for a new business, but did not divulge what that business would be.
Also, an infrastructure incentive was approved to Superior Essex, not to exceed $100,000, for the relocation of a water line for a business expansion project at 1512 Drisco Drive.

The new owner of the former Kroger building was not revealed, but Tipton stated the new owner is from Pampa and had opened small shopping centers in the past. Tipton also stated the owner was looking into other potential property in Brownwood as well.
Home 2 Suites on Monday began pouring the slab for the location of its hotel behind Studebaker’s.
TJ Maxx, which will be located in Commerce Square, recently made an update to its plans at the location, and the original target opening date of the first quarter of 2023 remains in place.
Trafalgar Homes, located at Milam and Indian Creek, are being built quicker than anticipated. Both one-story and two-story homes are being constructed, when originally it was believed only one-story homes would available. The City of Brownwood has ordered pipes for water and sewer lines and expects them to arrive soon.
Sales tax numbers for November are down 1.9% percent compared to last November, but 2022 as a whole has performed well over budget.
