Shortly after noon Saturday, first responders were dispatched to U.S. 377 South near the intersection of Crockett at the Stripes location for a multiple vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that three motorcycles involved in Hardi’s Bikers Memorial Ride had collided. One witness on the scene stated the motorcycles were attempting to change lanes when they collided. Another witness stated one of the motorcycles in front was attempting to stop traffic for the group and was clipped by another, which led to the pileup.
Brownwood Police Department officials on the scene confirmed five people were riding on three motorcycles involved. Three people were transported by Lifeguard EMS to Hendrick Medical Center-Brownwood with undisclosed injuries. Two others refused treatment and were suffering from what was described as “road rash.”
No additional information was available as members of the Brownwood Police Department were still conducting an investigation with witnesses at the scene.
Approximately two dozen motorcycles and additional vehicles were in the Stripe’s parking lot as those injured were treated.
Hardi’s Bikers Memorial Ride was in honor of 9-year-old HardiQuinn Hill, who was found unresponsive and later died on Aug. 22. Hill’s death is still being investigated by law enforcement and findings are expected to be revealed in the near future.
