ROUND ROCK – Four Brown County student-athletes competed in the UIL Cross County state championships Saturday morning at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock – one each from Early and Blanket and a pair from Zephyr.
Early’s Madison Torrez logged the best finish out of the contingent as she placed 28th out of 149 runners in the Class 3A girls run, where she ran a time of 12:47.8.
Pilot Point’s Addison Hale captured the 3A girls individual state championship in a time of 12:01.2, while Whitesboro earned the team title with 90 points.
In the Class A girls ranks, Blanket’s Kashleigh Kensing placed 66th in a time of 14:09 while Zephyr’s Aliana Lopez came in 94th and was clocked at 14:47.5.
Again, 149 runners took part in the competition which was won by Springlake Earth’s Taytum Goodman (11:11.2). Miller Grove claimed the team title with 105 points.
In Class A boys action, Zephyr’s Eli Williams finished 44th in a time of 18:43.5.
Irion County’s Tayte Cormier (16:25) placed first in the field of 146, and Saltillo earned the team championship with 73 points.
