Peacefully and surrounded by family, Marita Jan Taylor passed away on October 31, 2022 at the age of 82 in Abilene, Texas. Marita was born November 28, 1939 in Brownwood, Texas to her parents David and Alma Lee (Busby) Price.
Marita is survived by three sons, Rodney Clark, Randy Clark, and his wife Mikki, Brent Clark and his wife Dana, Becky Clark, daughter-in-law; brother, Darrell Price and his wife Lou Ann; and sister, Martha Jane Thetford and her husband Tony. Leaving a legacy of eight grandchildren, Amber Clark Crawford, Misti Clark Loocke, Brandon Clark, Kolby Clark, Caleb Clark, Camri Clark, Grace Clark, and Evan Clark; five great grandchildren, Claire Crawford, Keira Crawford, Quinn Loocke, Coen Loocke and Quinn Clark.
Marita was preceded in death by her father, David Caleb Price (1978), mother, Alma Lee Price (June 20, 2022), her husband, William “Bill” Taylor, her older sister, Joan “Honey” Fairbetter and her grandson, Kaden Clark.
Marita was known for her friendly, outgoing nature. She would talk to everyone she met and know all about their families in a matter of minutes. She and her husband, Bill loved to travel with their Pioneer Drive Baptist Church Prime Timers Group and going on cruises. Every spring for 18 years, her sister, Martha Jane would plan an adventurous Texas Road Trip with Marita and their mom to a small Texas towns. A couple trips niece Lori Price would get to come along as well. They wore big Kentucky Derby hats and made many new friends and many wonderful memories together.
Marita was also an avid collector of all things which she called her treasures! She loved her family and shared their stories and pictures with anyone who would listen. She was an avid reader of books and from an early age kept a journal of all the books she read and their authors. Viewing will be held at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home on Hwy. 277 S. on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 5:30-7:00 PM. Services will be held at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church on S. 7th Street Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM Graveside services will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas at 3:00 PM on Friday.
