Following Brownwood’s District 2-4A Division I championship-clinching 47-3 victory at Andrews Friday night, the Lions have moved up to No. 9 in the Week 11 Dave Campbell’s Texas Football rankings.
The No. 9 ranking matches the highest in the poll for the Lions this season, equaling their mark prior to “The Battle of 377” showdown with reigning state champion Stephenville.
Brownwood (8-2), which has its district bye Friday, opens playoff action at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 against El Paso Irvin at Odessa’s Ratliff Stadium.
The rest of the DCTF Class 4A Division I Top 10 includes No 1. China Spring (9-1), No. 2 Corpus Christi Calallen (9-0), No. 3 Boerne (9-0), No. 4 Anna (9-0), No. 5 Celina (8-1), No. 6 Lumberton (8-1), No. 7 Kilgore (7-2), No. 8 Tyler Chapel Hill (7-2), and No. 10 Kaufman (7-2).
In other local rankings, the Coleman Bluecats (7-2), who visit Bangs Friday in a battle for second place in the final District 5-2A Division I standings, is ranked No. 10 in their classification.
