Brownwood ISD (BISD) wrapped up a successful Pink-Out fundraiser at the homecoming football game on Friday, October 7, with a generous donation from Big Country Ford Lincoln.
Tommy Winn, Owner of Big Country Ford Lincoln, and Jennifer Perkins, Office Manager, presented a $5000 oversized check to BISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Young during halftime at the game at Gordon Wood Stadium.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Brownwood ISD supports the cause each year by designating a “Pink-Out” day. A custom-made “Fight Like a Lion” t-shirt was designed and sold by the district as a part of the fundraising effort. Faculty, staff, and students within the district, in addition to many community members, wore the Pink-Out shirt throughout the day and at the game to increase awareness and raise money for local families fighting cancer.
The fundraiser collected $15,938.75, marking the most successful Pink-Out yet. BISD has already donated $6,000 to three individuals battling cancer this year, and additional donations are planned along with support to Walker Cancer Center.
This year is the 11th anniversary of the Pink-Out fundraiser, which has raised over $125,000 over the years due to the incredible support by BISD students, staff, teachers, and the Brownwood community.
