The Photo Group of Brownwood Art Association opens its annual photography exhibit Thursday, Nov. 3, at the Art Center, highlighting the works of Jim Blake, Roger Engle and Roger Levesque.
The three area photographers were named in a three-way tie for Photographer of the Year. The Photo Group’s traditional monthly contests determine the winner, but this year, the award was split evenly among the three.
“We have a contest every month at our regular meeting,” according to BAAPG member Brad Bradley, who organizes the contest. “This year, we have three members who each won the same number of contests. Their works are equally impressive, so we decided to feature all three of them, in addition to the works of our other photographers.”
Each of the winning photographers has been exhibited at the Stars of Texas Art Show, and in other galleries and photography shows throughout Texas.
The exhibit opens Thursday, Nov. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Art Center, 215 Fisk Ave., in Downtown Brownwood. The event is open to the public and is free of charge. The photographic art will be on display through the month of November, from 2 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Regular monthly meetings of the BAA Photo Group are the second Thursday of each month, at 6 p.m., at the Art Center.. Anyone interested in photography is invited to attend. For further information, call the Art Center at 325-641-2916.
