The Brownwood JV Lions, Freshman Lions and Combined Team all picked up victories Wednesday night, running their combined season record to 18-6 through eight weeks.
JV Lions 48, Lake View 12
The Brownwood JV Lions improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 against District 2-4A Division I competition with a 48-12 victory over San Angelo Lake View Thursday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Noah Gonzalez rushed for four touchdowns and 130 yards, while Jaiden Gordon chipped in two touchdowns on the ground.
Braeden Stacks threw a touchdown pass to Kenyan McDowell and added three two-point conversion passes – two to Ross Strasner and one to Case Burnett.
Strasner also intercepted a pass to highlight Brownwood’s defensive effort.

Freshman Lions 49, Lake View 13
The Brownwood Freshman Lions boosted their District 2-4A Division I record to 2-0 and overall mark to 6-2 with a 49-13 victory over San Angelo Lake View Wednesday night at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The Lions jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Evan Escobar and a 50-yard scoring toss from Robbie Robinson to Carson Noe, as Eliuth Valenciano added extra points after both trips to the end zone.
Brownwood extended its lead to 21-7 on a 18-yard touchdown pass from Aiden Driskill to Noe in the second period. The Lions tacked on two more scores before intermission on a 3-yard run by Driskill and a 20-yard scamper by Robinson, which increased the lead to 35-7 at halftime after three more Valenciano PATs.
In the third quarter, the Lionspushed the advantage to 42-7 on a 1-yard run by Reese Bishop and Valenciano’s extra point.
The Lions added a final touchdown on a 42-yard jaunt by Driskill, with Valenciano again converting the PAT.
Defensive standouts included Bishop (6 tackles, 1 for loss), Robinson (6 tackles), Escobar (4 tackles, fumble recovery), Elias Munoz (4 tackles), Raven Prado (2 tackles, interception) and Logan Flores (fumble recovery).

Combined Team 32, Belton 14
BELTON – The Brownwood Lions Subvarsity Combined Team improved to 5-3 on the season with a 32-14 road triumph over Belton Wednesday night.
Dallas Shumaker threw three touchdown passes – two to Durham Brown and one to Neveah Menefield. Brown also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Defensive standouts included Steven Rodriguez, who intercepted a pass; Hayden Mair, who recovered an onside kick; and Elias Torres, Jonathan Bush, Trevor Wallace, Raul Eberhardt, and Menefield
