The Brownwood subvarsity football teams picked up two wins in three outings – including a pair of district victories – Thursday night.
JV Lions 42, Big Spring 12
BIG SPRING – The Brownwood JV Lions improved to 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in District 2-4A Division I action with a 42-12 road victory over Big Spring.
Noah Gonzalez rushed for more than 150 yards and three touchdowns and also chipped in a two-point conversion. Braeden Stacks tacked on a rushing touchdown and tossed a two-point conversion. Jaiden Gordan and Kaleb Grabast added rushing touchdowns as well, while Ross Stasner caught a two-point conversion.
Defensively, Stasner and Zakk Zabecki recorded interceptions for the Lions.

Freshman Lions 50, Big Spring 0
BIG SPRING – The Brownwood Freshman Lions moved to 5-2 on the season and 1-0 against District 2-4A Division I competition with a 50-0 triumph at Big Spring.
The Lions scored on their first offensive play as Aiden Driskill ran into the end zone from 54 yards out, and Eliuth Valenciano added the extra point. On Brownwood’s second play, Driskill connected with Carson Noe on a 35-yard touchdown pass, and Valenciano booted the extra point for a 14-0 lead.
In the second period, Robbie Robinson hurled a 39-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Edmonds, and Robinson tacked on a 13-yard scoring sprint. Valenciano added PATs after both to boost the lead to 28-0.
Before halftime, Reese Bishop recorded a safety to stake the Lions to a 30-0 advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter, Driskill added a 1-yard touchdown run, Robinson connected with Edmonds on a 91-yard scoring toss, and Bishop contributed a 1-yard touchdown on the ground.
Defensive standouts included Bishop (4 tackles, safety), Ben Wilson (4 tackles), Aidan Packheiser (1 sack), and Aviud Gomez (1 sack). Robinson and Noe recorded interceptions.

Llano 20, Combined Team 8
The Brownwood Lions Combined Team slipped to 4-3 on the season with a second straight setback, 20-8 to Llano at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Brownwood’s only touchdown was scored in the fourth period on a 30-yard pass from Dallas Shumaker to Durham Brown. Shumaker added the two-point conversion on a quarterback keeper.
Brown finished with a team-high six catches and Aiden Pena grabbed four receptions.
Defensive standouts included Brown (7 tackles), Neveah Menefield (5 tackles), Jonathan Bush (4 tackles), Stephen Rodriguez (3 tackles, PBU), and Michael Herrada (3 tackles).
