After cracking Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s Class 4A Division I rankings for the first time on Monday at No. 10, the Brownwood Lions appeared in Harris Ratings Weekly’s 4A Division I Top 10 for the second time this season, coming in at No. 9 in Tuesday’s release.
The Lions were ranked as high as No. 6 by Harris, that following a 55-16 victory at Marble Falls in Week 2.
The Lions (3-1) are in the midst of a three-game win streak, coming off a 17-3 triumph that dropped previously undefeated Glen Rose (3-1) to No. 9 in the Harris Ratings’ 4A Division II Top 10.
Next up for Brownwood is 4A Division II No. 10 Waco Connally (3-1), which is coming off its first loss to China Spring by a 51-21 count. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mac Peoples Stadium outside Waco.
The rest of the Harris Ratings 4A Division I Top 10 includes No. 1 Stephenville (4-0), No. 2 China Spring (4-0), No. 3 Corpus Christi Calallen (4-0), No. 4 Boerne (4-0), No. 5 Anna (4-0), No. 6 Celina (3-1), No. 7 Dumas (3-1), No. 8 Lumberton (3-1) and No. 10 El Campo (2-2).
Other rankings of local interest include Coleman (3-1) at No. 8 in Class 2A Division I, along with San Saba (4-0) at No. 24 and Bangs at No. 34.
Cross Plains (4-0) makes an appearance at No. 20 in Class 2A Division II this week, while just outside the Top 20 are Comanche (3-1) at No. 23 and Early (2-2) at No. 27 in Class 3A Division II.
