The Brownwood Art Association issued the following press release Thursday afternoon:
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to watch and learn from a talented artist at work. Jimmie Hudson will demonstrate painting with watercolors on canvas on Tues. Sept. 13, 6 pm, at the Art Center, 215 Fisk Ave. in Brownwood. This event is free and open to the public.
Hudson started painting nearly 20 years ago after retiring from 32 years with the Lamesa ISD. Asked about her favorite subjects to paint, she says “Well, flowers, I guess—I paint a lot of them–and dogs.” When a new Fiber Arts group organized this year, she cut and assembled colored fabrics to make a different style of art that was part of that group’s exhibit in June.
This demonstration will be short, about 30-45 minutes, so plan to arrive early, and check out the current gallery exhibit, “The Eclectic World of Boyd Harris,” which runs through September. Regular gallery hours are 2-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional artist demonstrations are planned for Tues. Oct. 11, and Tues. Nov. 8. Check the Brownwood Art Association website, www.brownwoodart.net, or follow the B.A.A. on Facebook for details.
