Brownwood tennis upends Lubbock All Saints, Snyder

SNYDER – The Brownwood High tennis team picked up two more early pre-district victories Tuesday, knocking off Lubbock All Saints, 13-6, and Snyder, 10-9.

The Lions led the charge in the win over All Saints, recording seven wins.

The boys swept all three doubles matches with victories belonging to No. 1 River Prado and Peter Le (4-0, 4-2 over Diego Cervera and Arch Underwood), No. 2 Tyler Mitchell and Taevion Nickerson (4-0, 4-0 over Cason Kerby and Hunter Reasoner), and No. 3 Eric Smith and Wesley Goodrich (4-0, 4-1 over Octavio Cervera and Matthew Zhang).

In singles action for the Lions, wins were claimed by No. 1 Le (6-0, 6-1 over Diego Cervera), No. 2 Prado (4-1, 5-3 over Underwood), No. 4 Goodrich (4-0, 4-0 over Reasoner), No. 5 Nickerson (4-0, 4-1 over Kerby), and No. 6 Smith (4-0, 4-0 over Octavio Cervera).

For the Lady Lions, singles victories were earned by No. 4 Ashlyn Bundick (4-1, 4-0 over Anna Lipe), No. 5 Lyric Shaw (default), and No. 6 Anna Daniel (default).

Collecting doubles wins on the girls side were No. 2 Claire Meinecke and Raylei Hickey (default) and No. 3 Bundick and Daniel (default).

In the triumph over Snyder, the Lions doubles teams again swept all three matches.

Chalking up wins in boys doubles were No. 1 Prado and Le (4-1, 4-0 over Shad Hodge and Andrew McGraw) No. 2 Mitchell and Nickerson (3-5, 4-1, 10-4 over Nathan Dagani and Ean Terrazas) and No. 3 Smith and Goodrich (5-3, 4-1 over Robert Turner and Daniel Robles).

Securing singles victories for the Lions were No. 1 Le (4-0, 4-0 over Hodge), No. 2 Prado (4-1, 4-0) over McGraw), No. 5 Nickerson (4-2, 4-0 over Terrazas) and No. 6 Smith (4-1, 4-0 over Nathan James).

The Lady Lions contributed singles wins by No. 1 Emma Delgado (4-0, 4-0 over Chloe Hombrebueno) and No. 4 Madeleine Goff (4-1, 3-5, 10-7 over Allison Flores).

Adding a doubles victory for the girls were the No. 2 team of Meinecke and Hickey (4-2, 5-4[4] over Flores and Sarah Stellati).

Brownwood (4-1) is back in action Saturday when it hosts Graham at 9 a.m. and Wall at 1:30 p.m. in its first home action of the season.
