- On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Deputy John Geis was dispatched to the sheriff’s office for a person who walked in and needed a report done over a theft. A complainant stated several items were stolen from his property off CR 237. The suspects burglarized his storage building, as well as his home, which was on the property. A report was taken.
- On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Lt. Pete Bastardo spoke with a complainant in regard to theft of motor vehicle. The complainant advised her daughter’s vehicle was taken from the fireworks stand located at Brady Ave, without permission. The complainant also stated her husband’s travel trailer had been entered and items were taken. Two case numbers were generated, due to having two victims. There are no known suspects in this case. The vehicle was entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen.
- On Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. Sgt. Andre Smoot met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center. This was referencing harassing text messages from a family member’s neighbor. Pertinent information was gathered, and a report was completed for further investigation.
- On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Deputy John Geis was patrolling around CR 551. This was when he observed a grey in color Toyota Tacoma with a defective driver’s side break light. Deputy Geis initiated a traffic stop and came into contact with the
- driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, and asked for proof of insurance
- and driver’s license. The driver stated she did not have either and possible had warrants. While Deputy Geis confirmed the warrants, the driver also admitted to having marijuana. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail and released to jail staff for warrants and Possession of Marijuana <2OZ.
- On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Deputy Toby Mathis, along with Deputy John Geis, responded to a residence for a welfare check. While attempting to check on the elder person his son was aggressive towards deputies. The son made a 911 call to report intruders at his residence and was abusive to the dispatcher. The son then made a threat to physically assault Deputy Mathis. The son was placed in custody for Terroristic Threat Public Servant, Resisting Arrest Search or Transport, and Abuse of 911. A report was made.
