In the early morning hours of July 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, Frances Lenora Perry, age 89, of Brownwood, left her Earthly body to meet her Lord and Savior.
Frances was born July 5, 1933, to Marion Lee and Eleanor (Banks) Pendergrass in Comanche, Texas.
What a grand reunion it was when she reached Heaven’s gates, as she was greeted by her own personal tour guide, her husband of 65 years, Robert Perry. Together they made a huge, wonderful family. They raised 4 children. From those children came 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Frances retired from Brownwood ISD. She worked in the cafeteria and greeted each child that came through her line with the biggest smile and welcome. Frances was a fantastic baker and cake decorator. She baked cakes for family and friends and loved every second of it. She was a phenomenal quilter and seamstress. She made clothes for her children and grandchildren. She quilted quilts for just about everyone in her family, up until her hands wouldn’t work anymore. She did so with love in each stitch and we were all blessed to have our Nanny blankets. Frances was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nanny and friend. She was a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Danny Perry and wife Lori, Evelyn Curry and Ruth Spearman, all of Brownwood; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Velma Edwards of California, Wanda Copeland of Oklahoma, Sue Withers and husband Larry of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Carla Riley of Angleton, Texas, whom she loved as a daughter. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Perry; parents, Marion and Eleanor Pendergrass; daughter, Lenora Kay White; granddaughter, Tonya Kay Curry; grandson, Kevin “Kilroy” Shane Perry; and great-great granddaughter, McKinley Jean Cummings; brothers, Billy and Charles Pendergrass; brothers-in-law, Pete and Delbert Perry, Mike Riley and Pete Copeland; sisters-in-law, Shirley Perry and Betty Pendergrass. As well as 2 sets of twins that would’ve been great-great grandchildren that never made it earthside.
Her passing leaves a hole in many hearts that will never fully heal. She was loved by many and loved many in return. Her heart of gold, trust in her Lord and strength of her soul will live in us all and will be passed down through generations to come.
Funeral Services for Frances will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Blaylock Funeral Home with Lynn Rice officiating; burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior services from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
