The Brown County Sheriff’s Department answered the following calls on Wednesday, June 29.
On Wednesday, June 29, at approximately 11:00 am, Deputy Scotty Burke met with a female subject at the Law Enforcement Center in reference to a “SCAM” report and investigation. The woman advised she had received a check in the mail and then began getting e-mails from an individual giving instruction to deposit the check or cash the check at a Wal-Mart. The woman tried to verify the check through several banks and was told the check could not be verified.
On Wednesday, June 29, at 17:45 hours, Sgt. Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to Dillard Drive in regards to theft. Upon arrival contact was made with the complainant. The complainant advised his license plate was stolen from the rear of his vehicle. Information was gathered and a report was taken.
On June 29, Deputy Joe Thomas was dispatched to a report of trespassing. After further investigation, it was determined there was no trespassing offense, however, a theft did occur. The complainant advised an employee stole $183.24. A report was made.
On Wednesday, June 29, at 22:39 hours, Sgt. Jayson Bastardo was dispatched to N 279 EZ-MART in regards to duty on striking an unattended vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the complainant. The man advised an unknown individual backed into his truck and fled the scene. Information was gathered and a report was taken.
