The Brownwood High School (BHS) Lionettes Drill Team recently participated in the American Dance/Drill Team Camp at SMU. The team earned several top honors and individual awards. “This is a super strong team,” stated Lionettes director Jessica Morgan. “The staff let me know they were impressed.”
Team Awards:
- Diamond Sweepstakes Award (evaluation on three outstanding dances)
- All American Team* of the Week Award for overall outstanding dance team
- Sprit of ADTS Award for team spirit and encouragement to all
- Most Admired Team of the Day Award (voted by all dance teams on day one)
- All American Team of the Day Award for stepping it up, working hard and quickly picking up choreography on day two.
Individual Awards:
- Gold All American Dance Company – Jensyn Evans
- Outstanding Performer of the Week (dance technique, attitude, leadership and overall excellence) – Jensyn Evans
- All American Dance/Drill Team Winners – Ella Locker, Allorah Franks, Jensyn Evans, Reagan Kittrell, and Kamryn Williams
- All American Honorable Mention – Allison Godinho, Marisol Rodriguez, and Elena Sandovol
As All American Team of the Week, the Lionettes have earned the opportunity to perform at a San Antonio Spurs halftime performance. Individuals earning All American and All American Honorable Mention awards earned an invitation to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “It was grueling, but an amazing three days,” stated Morgan. “So very proud of all involved!”
