The Corinne T. Smith Animal Center posted the following on Facebook on Wednesday night:
The Corinne T. Smith Animal Center is at “CODE RED” status. We are overcapacity with all available kennels full and crates being utilized (which is not ideal situations for the dogs). Our capacity is still lingering around the worst it’s ever been.
“How can I help?” There are lots of ways to help the lost, abandoned, neglected, and homeless animals of Brown County as soon as today.
Adopt! Adoption is the goal for every single animal in our care.
Available Cats – Our available adoptable cats are currently at Petsense. We have no “available” cats at the shelter at this time.
Can’t take on a permanent addition to the home right now? We totally understand and that’s why fostering is so important! Fostering is FREE, temporary, we provide supplies and medical care, you just provide a safe home. We will work around your schedule! Even if it’s just for five days, that’s five days not in a crate. Join the CTSAC foster family by messaging our shelter page and our foster coordinator will reach out to you. We have adult dogs, puppies and kittens that are available for foster.
Can’t adopt or foster? Donate! We are burning through supplies at ludicrous speed right now with the sheer volume of animals coming in. Cat food, dog food, litter, supplies to send with fosters, and cleaning supplies are among our most needed items.
Donate via Amazon: https://a.co/axVfYax
Make a monetary donation: paypal.me/CTSAC
Can’t donate? Volunteer! There are only about 4 staff members for over 200 animals on-site.
Our volunteers help in SO many ways! Stop by and get an application and can get started that day.
And if you can’t do any of that, get the word out! Tell your friends, tell family, tell coworkers, tell that Facebook friend that you don’t really know why you haven’t unfriended yet, but could still help! We are the only shelter in Brown County and depend on community support.
We’re on track for our busiest month ever. We’ve already taken in 45 animals in the first week of June, when we were already over capacity, and we cannot maintain kennel space at this rate. These animals need your help today!
