Howard Payne University’s Delaney Castor and Trevor Fletcher were two of 22 graduating student-athletes from the 11 American Southwest Conference member institutions honored by the conference and their institutions as 2021-22 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor recipients.
The ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor is presented to one male and one female member of the graduating class who has compiled the most outstanding record in academics, athletics and leadership over their collegiate career. The award is presented annually by the Faculty Athletics Representative at each conference member institution
Trevor Fletcher | Criminal Justice | Baseball| Discovery Bay, Calif.
Trevor Fletcher, a Criminal Justice major from Discovery Bay, Calif., played baseball for a Yellow Jacket baseball team. He hit .262 with 17 hits, 11 runs, a home run and 15 RBI in 25 games in 2022. Fletcher compiled a 4.00 GPA and received an Honor Award from the HPU Criminal Justice department.
Delaney Castor | History/Education | Soccer | Irving, Texas
Delaney Castor was a four-year starter at goalkeeper for the Lady Jacket soccer team. She was the 2020 ASC Goalkeeper of the Year and four-time All-Conference selection. Castor had a 3.94 GPA in History/Education and was both the Outstanding History Student and Outstanding New Secondary Teacher.
Recipients of the 2021-22 ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor represent 13 different conference sports and include individuals who graduated with academic honors, hold admission to graduate-level programs, are members of academic honor societies and campus organizations; competed on national, conference or division title teams; earned Academic All-America, ASC All-Academic, Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and All-Conference honors; and who served as volunteers, tutors and mentors within the campus and the
