Since opening its door at its Early location at 1003 N. Highway 183 in 2019, Mattressville has striven to “focus on our customers and give them the best possible experience they can have,” according to owner David Davis.
Among the benefits Mattressville offers, Davis said, “We do free delivery and free haul off of your old mattress instead of that being an added charge. We keep mattresses stacked to the ceiling so that when people come in we can deliver their mattress either that day or the next day in most cases. Every now and then we have to special order stuff but for the most part we have a huge inventory and can deliver products right away.”
Mattressville General Manager Ira Goodman added, “The main thing we focus on is our promise is to be the most helpful mattress store in town. Sometimes people don’t need a new mattress, they need a new box spring or maybe they need an adjustable base. Sometimes selling isn’t necessarily being the most helpful. We went out the other day to see people who had an adjustable base and instead of selling them a new one, they just needed new batteries in their remote. That’s more important than making every sale.”
The Early location is one of three in the locally owned franchise, which also has stores in Stephenville and Granbury.
“Ira makes sure our staff is where they need to be and our inventory is where it needs to be so we can also get people taken care of just as quick as possible,” Davis said.
Mattressville does more than just sell mattresses to their customers, they provide service calls should issues arise after the purchase.
“We don’t charge anything to come to your house and check out a problem and see what we can offer as a resolution,” Davis said. “Usually we can help those people with something. Every now and then it can become more complicated but again we take care of all that for our customers. That’s the way we create we make a better environment for our customers. What we tell folks is if you have trouble with your mattress come and talk to us. Nine times out of 10 the person you saw when you purchased that mattress is going to be the person you see if you have a challenge, and we’re going to take care of those challenges. You’ll never walk in the door and have a problem and be told by one of our staff ‘you’re not my customer, I can’t take care of that.’ Our guys say ‘if my customers aren’t sleeping, we’re not sleeping.’”
Along with Davis and Goodman, Brandon McDonald is a business partner, store managers are Kevin Evetts and Stephen Rutherford, and Damien Crader and Robert Morton are delivery experts. Goodman, Evetts, Rutherford and Crader have been at the Early store since it opened.
Davis added, “We hired Ira before we had a door to open. He’s been instrumental from day one in running our company, helping our customers and shaping what this has become.”
Mattressville also handles all the warranties for its customers.
“There’s a big misconception that the mattress warranty is a myth” Goodman said. “We put that burden on us, so if a customer has a problem with a mattress we go out there, we do the inspection. You have to submit certain photos to the manufacturer and run measurements and that’s something that we do ourselves. If there’s a problem mattress, we don’t want it out there. We register the warranties for our customers, we do inspections on warranties, we turn it in. In the meantime if we’re waiting on a process and know that it’s going to get approved we can get them switched out before we even get it approved from the manufacturer in some cases. Little things like that, a no pressure sales staff, taking care of warranties make mattresses buying way easier than people make it out to be. It shouldn’t be as hard as buying a new car or a house when you’re buying a mattress.”
Mattressville is also active in the community.
“We do a lot around town,” Davis said. “We go to the Lehnis Train Museum and we have certain days of the year where we pay for certain rides. Kids can come out and ride the train for free and we pay for that. We’re also involved with Sleep in Heavenly Peace and we help provide mattresses for Sleep in Heavenly Peace.”
Goodman added, “We’ve been involved with Buckmasters, Toys for Kids, and we hand out candy on Halloween.”
Mattressville carries a wide variety of mattresses to choose from for your comfort needs.
“We’ve got the name brands that people know like Tempur-Pedic, Stearns & Foster, Sealy, Nectar, and then a few other brands in our Valueville collection,” Davis said.
Mattressville is currently in the midst of its Memorial Day sale, which lasts through June 10.
“Right now you can save up to $300 on Sealy Hybird, up to $600 on Stearns and Foster adjustable base sets and $500 on Tempur-Pedic Adjustable base sets,” Goodman said. “If you buy any full mattress you get a free flat foundation. We have some special floor models and we have some extra discounts up to $500 extra over the Memorial Day sale. Nearly everything in here is on sale and almost everything is in stock and ready to deliver the same or next day.”
