During her senior campaign, Jones was selected as Co-Midfield MVP of District 4-4A as Brownwood posted a 13-6-2 record, placed second in the league and earned a bi-district championship.
“We came on and dominated and all my little freshman babies, I love them, and they made it one to remember,” Jones said. “The girls and I were really close and that will have a place in my heart forever.”
Regarding her decision to choose Midwestern, Jones said, “Since seventh grade I’ve been interested in continuing my academic and athletic education. That’s when I really started looking at schools and I have probably talked to over 100 coaches and went on several visits. I met Midwestern State at one of my soccer tournaments and I talked to them, I went on a tour with them and they gave me an offer. About a year later I accepted their offer because they are the people I kept coming back to. I looked for a really homey feel and every other school I went to I didn’t feel like I was at home there. It’s not too small and it’s not too bid, I think it’s a perfect fit for me.”
Among Jones’ fondest memories as a Lady Lion – as the program reached the postseason in all four years of her career – are her first season.
“My freshman year stands out the most to me because I felt the most welcomed,” Jones said. “I feel like I came out and dominated the field with the 12 seniors, those girls took me under their wing and made it a place that I called home.”
Looking ahead to her plans at Midwestern, Jones said, “I’m going to major in pre-medicine and minor in biology to hopefully become a dermatologist.”
On the soccer field, Jones said, “I’m going to go in there and work my butt off and hopefully get a starting position with those girls, and make lifelong friends and teammates.”
As for plans beyond college, Jones said, “I can honestly see myself starting my own private practice here in Brownwood and continuing on and seeing where I go from there.”
Jones is also the reigning Brown County Youth Fair Association Queen and will be involved with the Brown County Rodeo June 3-5.
“I’ll be riding in the grand entry, I’ll be answering questions, and I’ll be providing service to anyone that needs help,” Jones said. “I’m there to be a good role model for the younger children and represent Brown County well.”
Jones also extended a heartfelt thanks to those whose fostered her dream of playing college soccer.
“I would love to give a shout out to Steven Salas, my coach that took me under his wing in seventh grade, my dad Justin Jones, and my family for their support,” Jones said.
