KINGSLAND – Brownwood Lion sophomore Sir Bubba Jones carded a second straight round of 78 Tuesday to conclude the 36-hole, two-round Class 4A boys golf state tournament at Legends Golf Course with a 156 composite score.
Jones finished tied for 18th place overall along with Price Hill of Boerne, who posted rounds of 84 and 73.
Argyle’s Gaven Lane won the individual state title as he followed a first-round 70 with a 66 in the final round for a 136 total, six strokes better than first-round leader and runner-up Jaxon Donaldson of Wimberley (67-75=142). Waxahachie Life’s Nolan De Los Santos (71-74=145) and Lake Belton’s Chandler Cooke (71-74=145) finished in a tie for third place.
In the team standings, Argyle (290-302=592) eased to the state championship followed by runner-up Bullard (311-328=639) and third-place Bridgeport (319-321=640).
