On Thursday, April 28, 2022, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Officer Jaylen Bocknite was dispatched to the Food Plaza (2800blk of US Hwy 377S) regarding a report of theft. The caller stated that a male subject fled the store after stealing a 6-pack of beer.
Officer Bocknite drove to the area and was able to locate the described suspect in the area of Ave C and 13th St. The male subject turned to face Officer Bocknite’s patrol vehicle while Officer Bocknite instructed him to stop. The male then turned and ran eastbound on Ave C until Officer Bocknite accelerated his vehicle; prompting him to stop a block away.
Officer Bocknite exited his patrol vehicle and detained the subject and identified him as 27-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Allen of Brownwood. Allen was detained for Evading on Foot. While speaking with Allen, his open duffle bag was observed and found to have the described beer inside. The beer bottles were still cold and condensation was easily observed on its side.
Allen was arrested and charged with Evading on Foot.

On Saturday, April 30, 2022, at approximately 10 a.m., Officer James Holdar was dispatched along with other officers to a report of an assault in the 1000 block of High Mesa.
When officers arrived, they met with a family at a residence in this block. All members involved cooperated with officer’s and provided statements indicating an assault between family members occurred. The adult parents identified 32-year-old Caleb Conrad Walker as the aggressor; explaining that he assaulted his mother. During the course of the investigation, it was confirmed that Walker did commit an assault. Walker was arrested and charged with Assault Against a Family Member (Simple Assault).
Walker was transported to the Brown County Jail without further incident.
