EASTLAND – Following a 3-1 victory Thursday night in Game 1 of their Region I-3A softball bi-district playoff series, the Bangs Lady Dragons were forced into the tiebreaking game due to a 9-2 loss to Breckenridge here Friday night.
The decisive Game 3 between Bangs (15-9) and Breckenridge (19-8) is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday back in Eastland.
The Lady Dragons fell behind 8-0 – allowing two runs in the second inning, three in the third, and three more in the fifth – before tallying their two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Julianna Ethridge led off with a single, Emily Baker walked and Sierra Lorah singled to load the bases with one out in the Bangs half of the fifth. Jacee Miller followed with an RBI single that plated Ethridge then, with two outs, Baker came home on a passed ball.
Bangs finished with just four hits, drew two walks and struck out 14 times. Miller, Ethridge, Lorah and Abby Wolf picked up singles.
In the circle, Wolf gave up six earned runs on 14 hits with nine strikeouts and two walks, while the Lady Dragon defense committed a pair of errors.
