BANGS – The Early Longhorns secured the No. 2 playoff seed from District 8-3A for the playoffs with Tuesday night’s 12-0 road victory over the rival Bangs Dragons.
The Longhorns scored twice the first and fifth innings, five times in the fourth and added three final runs in the top of the seventh inning.
The Dragons mustered just one hit off Early’s Rylie Hill and Bradly Roman, who combined to strike out 11 batters with four walks. Zack Ferguson collected Bangs’ lone hit.
For the Longhorns, Hill led the way with three hits followed by two hits and three RBIs from Roman, two hits and one RBI from Caleb McCullough, one hit and three RBIs from Franky Villarreal, one hit and two RBIs from John-Stewart Gordon, one hit and one RBI from Jaxyn Price, and one hit each from Jeremy Brown, Caleb Laird and Tucker Hale.
Early (16-4, 11-2) hosts Comanche in its final home game of the season at 7 p.m. Friday, while Bangs (5-15, 1-12) will conclude its campaign at Dublin at 7 p.m. Friday.
