Julia Lupe Martinez, age 63, of Brownwood, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022 in Austin. Cremation is under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
Julia was born to Jessie Irene Baca and Cecil Garcia in Clovis New Mexico on July 2, 1958. She married Ruben Martinez on February 14, 1983 in Brownwood. Together, they were members of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood. Julia loved her cat and dog, grandkids, Dallas Cowboys, old Westerns, and music. Her favorite songs were by Mazz, Bob Marley, Selena Quintanilla, Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson. She also loved Marilyn Monroe and Marvin Gaye. Julia loved life, and lived hers to the fullest. She was well known around the Brownwood area; she loved talking to everyone. Julia was funny, and she loved to make herself and others laugh. A quote she lived by was from the song writer, Bob Marley, “One love, one heart, one destiny.”
Julia is survived by her husband, Ruben Martinez; son, Michael Lee Garcia and wife Lucy; daughter, Lucy Ogdan; brothers, Fernando, Billy, Danny, Jr., Ray, and Anthony; sisters, Delma, Sofia, Cilia, Suzzy, Norma Jean, and Marie; grandchildren, Zachary, Monique, Saxxton, Dakota, Michael Lee Jr., Nike, Preston, Jasiah, and Zackary; 4 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of many other relatives an many friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Irene Baca-Garcia.
