On Thursday, March 17, Kidd completed the assigned coursework and physical tests, in order to successfully graduate from the 281st Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
The selection to the National Academy is a highly competitive process in which less than 1% of law enforcement are able to attend this elite training. The training received at this academy enriches the knowledge of the participants, who then bring that knowledge back to their respective agencies.
The 281st Session of the FBI National Academy consisted of 257 men and women from all over the world. The National Academy Program, held on the marine corps base, is internationally known for its academic excellence.
It offers 10 weeks of advanced courses in communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected professional officers within their agencies. Training for the program is provided by the FBI Academy instructional staff, Special Agents, and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise.
More specifically Lt. Kidd completed courses in Leading At-Risk Employees Psychology of Leadership Organizational Leadership Behavioral Analysis for Decision Support.
His roommates included executives from Fort Myers, Florida, Indianapolis, and Pakistan.
Speaking to a Brownwood High School Government class in attendance at Tuesday morning’s meeting, Kidd said, “Here’s the summary of it. It’s like a boot camp, they put you on a Marine Corps base, kind of like a dorm-type setting. We had drill instructors pushing us through all these obstacles and you get college credits, too. Thanks to the community for sponsoring me.”
Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes added, “We’re proud to have people from Brownwood that achieve excellence. It’s a big deal when you have people that work for you that want to better themselves. James has exemplified that and we have so many at City Hall that has done that. You don’t necessary have to leave Brownwood, Texas to do great things.”
