LUBBOCK – The Brownwood Lady Lions finished eighth out of 14 teams at the Region I-4A girls golf tournament, which concluded Thursday at Shadow Hills Golf Course.
The District 6-4A runner-up Lady Lions posted a 745 team score with an opening 382 Wednesday followed by a closing 363 Thursday during the 36-hole event.
Haylie Martindale led the Lady Lions with a 175 after rounds of 87 and 88, which good for 31st place, trailed by River Jones (96-85=181), Sydnee Dyess (96=93=189), London England (104-97=201) and Tristyn Garcia (103-111-214).
Moving on to state are Region I-4A champion Andrews Black (607), Argyle (609), and Seminole (645).
Advancing to state as medalists were Lampasas’ Shaylee Wolfe (149), who finished second overall to Argyle’s Madison Wert (147), Monahans’ Madisyn Yanez (157) and Andrews Gold’s Emma Carrasco (157).
The UIL Class 4A girls golf state tournament will take place May 16-17 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.
